Beach High School Celebrates 20 Years By: P.J. Sylvia September 8, 2007
It seems like yesterday we were studying for exams and rushing to classes in senior hall at Long Beach High School. We have spent two decades apart and on September 8, 2007, we caught up on the path each of us has taken and where each of those paths has taken us. I cannot help but relate to each of our lives with the poem by Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken". We had a wonderful time catching up, exchanging phone numbers, email, other contact information and just having a great time! The reunion events started off with a bonfire on the beach in front of the grounds of St. Thomas Church Friday evening, a poolside family gathering located a the Wedworth's Saturday, and the final get together at Magnolia Plantation Hotel on Saturday evening. The party continued for whom ever wanted to come to the Island View Casino night club. The bonfire was a very casual theme with everyone recognizing faces and just having fun. A few families showed up for the pool party but the big event was the evening events. The cash bar always had a line. Fortunately, had a few connections to get me to the front faster :). The slideshow was an excellent idea and was about 20 minutes of photos from our senior year, senior day, senior trip to Ft. Walton, graduation ceremonies and of course some current family photos. I saw some food and a cake but did not get to fix a plate and to be honest, I personally talk so much I didn't take time to eat. At 10pm we all departed the Magnolia and hit the town and drove to the Island View. The live band provided music and waitresses with Las Vegas style clothing to take care of our drinks. The band did not know many 80's songs but did play a AC/DC song "Shook Me All Night Long" for us. The party continued long after I left and hopefully everyone had a safe trip home. I look forward to seeing everyone again. If you missed this reunion do not worry Traci has informed us that we plan on partying again in 2013! We had a great time. Keep us informed on the next one. Thank you Forrest and Traci for all your hard work organizing our event!
